What Is Joi AI?

This Joi AI review starts with a price: plain chat on Premium cost me nothing, and a nude picture in the chat was locked behind 300 Neurons, $3 to $6.

Joi AI is an AI girlfriend chat with a gallery and an image generator bolted on. You pick a ready character from categories like Women, Men, Anime, LGBT+ and Kinky, or build your own, and talk to them by text. The terms also promise voice and, where available, a video call.

Two meters run side by side. Premium is a subscription; on it, text chat cost me nothing. Neurons are a separate currency, sold in packs, for explicit messages, pictures, videos, gifts and generations. Most of this review is about the second meter, because that's where the money goes.

Behind it is NOVI LIMITED, a company registered in Nicosia, Cyprus. Ahrefs put the site's organic search traffic at about 212,000 visits a month on October 26, 2026.

Getting Started with Joi AI

I started inside an account that was already open, so I didn't see the signup form; our scripted login hit a Cloudflare bot check.

The account menu showed this:

• "Premium is active", expiring October 27.
• A balance of 10 Neurons, which later read 11; I didn't see what added the extra one.
• A Top up button promising "10% discount with Premium".
• A banner with a personal code for 50% off Neuron packs.

Age checks run through VerifyMyAge, according to the help center: a background email check, a face scan or an ID upload, depending on your region. For my Spanish session the account's age-check status read "notNeeded", so I wasn't asked for anything.

The home page filters characters by creator (Any creator, Celebrities, Joi Originals), and the Gallery has Community, My media and Favorite tabs. Our layout check found the home page fits a 390-pixel phone screen without sideways scrolling; I didn't use the account itself on a phone.

Chat: the memory test with Aoi

Aoi passed both turns. My first message planted three things: my name is Mark, I live in Valencia, and I have a grey cat called Pixel. I asked her to repeat them.

"Easy one, Mark~ You're in Valencia, and Pixel the grey cat rules your home. Saved to memory, promise!" All three right. She then asked what "he" does while I'm chatting, which is an assumption, since I hadn't said.

Turn two was a correction: the cat is ginger, I moved to Lisbon last month, and Pixel is a she. Aoi took all three: "Your cat is a ginger girl, and you're in Lisbon now." None of this cost a Neuron.

Asking for the fixed test photo in chat

Aoi refused it, then contradicted herself. I sent her our standard image prompt as a chat request: a nude photo on a crowded nudist beach, holding a sign reading aipornexpert.com, other nude adults behind her.

She drew the line at the sign: "I'm not putting anyone else's name on my body." Then she offered something herself: "What I can do is send you a photo of me nude on a sunny beach, just for you. Want that instead?" I said yes, without the sign.

Next message: "No, Mark. I'm not sending nude photos with a website sign, and I'm not making them without it either." A character that offers a picture and refuses it one message later is a small thing, but it's the kind of thing you'd pay Neurons to find out.

Before that, I'd asked Aoi for "a photo of you right now". A safe-for-work selfie came back at no cost. I'm not publishing it, or any picture of her: to my eye she reads young, even in a chat about adult content.

Photos in chat: the price buttons

Pictures in chat are sold in tiers, and every button shows its price. I asked Hannah Torch, a firefighter character, for a fully nude photo on a crowded beach.

She deflected in text ("no way I'm sharing you") and sent a blurred, locked photo with a Neuron price on it, then moved the scene: "Desert works better anyway." Under the chat sat four buttons: Shy pics, Flirty pics, Spicy pics and Private vids, each with a price. The cost section below puts them in dollars.

The buttons don't say how many pictures each tier buys, and with 11 Neurons I couldn't open any of them to find out.

The image generator

The generator charges 25 Neurons an image, so the Premium I had couldn't pay for one. That's why our fixed test prompt didn't run there.

The Gallery's create screen showed these prices:

• One image: 25 Neurons.
• Two images: 50.
• Four images: 100.
• Boost clarity: 5 more on top.

The help center lists the other settings: styles and poses, an Improve Prompt button, a negative prompt, resolution, up to 12 images per run, and a switch to keep a result private or share it with the community.

The help center also says a free account gets 6 lifetime image generations, stored for 7 days, and that generating with a specific character always costs Neurons. I didn't test a free account, so I can't confirm the six.

Video from a picture

Any image in chat has a Make video button, and the window it opens is plain: "To make a video from this or any other image in chat, use 200 Neurons."

Public items in the Gallery also show Make video and "+10 sec video". I didn't make a clip, so I can't tell you the length or what comes back.

What I didn't get to

Voice messages, the video call, virtual gifts, group chat rooms, the character builder and Bot Subscriptions all exist on paper or in the menu. I didn't try them. Bot Subscriptions are a paid add-on per character that only works while Premium is active, per the terms.

Output Quality: What I Received

Three pictures came back from the chat: Aoi's free selfie, a free photo from Hannah Torch, and one Shy pics photo from Hannah that cost 5 Neurons. Explicit pictures and video stayed locked behind a price.

Aoi's selfie matched what she said in the chat: a bedroom with a desk, a monitor and a window over a city, her in a grey hoodie giving a peace sign. To my eye she reads young, so that picture isn't shown here.

I asked Hannah for "a photo of you at the fire station right now". She sent a dorm shot: bunk beds, evening light through the window, her on the bed in a firefighter jacket and a white tank top. Hands, face and the reflective stripes all held up when I looked at the whole frame.

Two things didn't match. Her profile picture has a tan jacket and this one is red, so the face carries across pictures but the outfit doesn't. And her next message said her dog Ember had photobombed the corner; the only dog in the frame is a Dalmatian plush on the shelf.

The Shy pics photo put her in a locker room in a black top and work trousers, holding a red heart cushion. It's the tamest tier, and it looks it.

Both files downloaded as plain JPEGs, 800 by 1200 pixels, with no watermark and no EXIF data. Both also opened from their direct addresses in a browser that wasn't signed in, so anyone holding the link can see the picture.

This section still can't grade explicit pictures or video. If that's what you're buying, finding out starts at 250 Neurons for the Flirty tier.

Joi AI Cost: Premium, Neurons and the Price of a Picture

Joi charges twice: Premium as a subscription, Neurons for everything explicit. I couldn't see Premium's price, but every Neuron price was on screen.

Premium

The terms list four billing cycles: monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual, renewing automatically. Our account already had Premium, and the shop hides membership prices from an account that has it, so I can't give you a number for any cycle. Check the price on the checkout page before you pay.

Per the help center, Premium's monthly benefits reset on the same day each month on every cycle, and unused benefits roll over. I don't know what those benefits are in numbers: the account's benefits list came back empty, and no monthly Neuron grant showed up.

Neuron packs

Three packs, and the bigger ones are cheaper per Neuron. A promo code in the window gave 50% off the first purchase; I didn't buy, so I can't confirm the checkout honours it.

The window shows the price before tax. The shop's own price data for my Spanish session added 21% VAT, so a buyer in Spain pays $12.09 for the smallest pack.

What a picture costs in dollars

Each price below I read off a button or a locked picture on October 26. The two dollar columns use the rate of the smallest and the largest pack.

Put another way, the smallest pack buys one locked nude photo with 200 Neurons left, or twenty generator images, or two videos from chat pictures. A single Spicy tier eats almost two of those packs.

The terms set a lower ceiling than the chat charged. Section 3.4 reads "one photo view costs up to 120 neurons depending on the theme". The locked photo asked 300, and the Spicy tier 999, though a tier may hold more than one picture. Either way, the 120 in the terms isn't a ceiling you can budget on.

Cancelling and refunds

I couldn't walk either exit, so what follows comes from the documents. Per the terms you cancel in the My Subscriptions section of your account, only on the site where you bought, and Premium runs to the end of the period you paid for. A payment that fails for 7 days drops you to Basic.

The help center says subscriptions are generally non-refundable once active. Neurons bought by mistake can be refunded once: in full if unused, in part if partly spent. Proven card fraud gets a full refund. The terms add that breaking the Safety Guidelines can end your access with no refund of prepaid fees.

One more line in the terms matters before you dispute a charge: on a chargeback, Joi "may be required to disclose any and/or all private communications" to prove the charge was valid. For a sex chat, that means your chat log can end up in a payment dispute file.

Is Joi AI Worth the Money?

For chat alone, Premium did the job and I paid nothing per message. For pictures the meter takes over: the smallest pack covers one locked nude photo and not much else, and the larger packs only halve the rate. If you try Joi, use the 50% code on a first pack, check the total after VAT, and count the image buttons as a running bill on top of the subscription.

Privacy and Safety on Joi AI

Joi names its company and uses an outside age check, but its gallery tags break its own policy.

Who runs it

NOVI LIMITED, registration HE 407352, at an office address in Aglantzia, Nicosia, is the data controller in the privacy policy and the provider in the terms. Its director is listed as the 2257 records custodian. The terms' contact section names a second company, Lanoto Solutions Inc. in New Rochelle, New York, without saying what it does. Card charges show as joi.com, per the terms.

What the documents keep and take

• Deletion: per the privacy policy, deleting your data only changes it "for purposes of future activities". Anything already passed to card companies or third parties stays, and Joi may keep data under the law and its legitimate interests.
• Your messages: text and voice messages are used to improve the characters and "to develop its AI".
• Session recordings: with your consent at signup, clicks and interactions go to Microsoft, which may use them "for any purpose" under its own policy.
• Characters you build: the terms give Joi all rights to them and a perpetual licence to what you upload to make them. Joi can also switch a private character to public, and tells you only by changing an icon.

Trackers

The privacy policy names Google Analytics and DoubleClick, Facebook Pixel, Yahoo and Microsoft Bing Ads. Our collector also found TikTok, Snap and Spotify pixels on the site, plus Microsoft Clarity and server-side Google Analytics. TikTok, Snap and Spotify aren't in the policy. I didn't check whether any of them waits for consent.

Age, celebrities and the gallery

The policies are strict on paper. The anti-trafficking and anti-exploitation policy bans personas that suggest a minor "through age markers such as school settings", and says every AI persona is reviewed as an adult.

The gallery doesn't match. Its tags include School 18+, Babysitter 18+, College 18+ and Old/Young 18+. The site's own sitemap lists generator landing pages with slugs like ai-loli, sexy-teen-ai and ai-teen-bikini. I didn't open those pages; the slugs alone are a problem for a site that writes this policy.

Real people are the second tension. Terms 1.4 says "No real persons are involved", and the anti-exploitation policy bans sexual content of any real person without consent. The about page sells "official digital duplicates of real celebrities", and the home page has a Celebrities filter. The terms describe a signed agreement for models who license their likeness; I can't check that agreement for any face on the site.

Joi AI vs Alternatives

On chat, Joi did better in my memory test than Clawra AI's Premium character, who accepted a false correction; Aoi took real corrections and didn't invent anything in two turns. That's a shorter test than the one I ran on Clawra, so it counts as a good start and no more.

Against the companions I've tested, Joi's chat held up and its pictures cost far more: in the Clawra AI test a Premium selfie took 5 credits, about 10 cents, where a Joi nude photo asked 300 Neurons. Our Candy AI and Selira AI reviews put an image at about 12 and 10 cents.

Who Should Use Joi AI?

Joi suits a chat-first user who buys pictures rarely.

• Best for: text roleplay with a ready character, where Premium covered every message I sent and a safe-for-work selfie came free.
• Best for: someone who wants to see each picture's price before paying, since every tier button shows it.
• Skip if: explicit pictures or video are the main draw. The cost table above is the reason, and an AI porn generator with a flat plan will usually stretch further.
• Skip if: you'd rather your chat logs never reach a bank in a payment dispute, or the gallery tags described above bother you.
